Given the abject performance of the Miton Smaller Companies Fund managed by Gervais Williams, driven by a combination of utterly dire stock picking and mass redemptions, I have more than once suggested that Mr Williams has the potential to be the new Neil Woodford. But today I can reveal that Williams is performing a trick used by Woodford and it is one that his ACD and the FCA should be investigating with some urgency.

Every dog has its day. Even the Miton Smaller Companies Fund run by the new Neil Woodford, Mr Gervais Williams. In March it managed to lose just under 12% in value whereas the small cap unit Trust sector saw an average loss of c25%. So Gervais, for almost the first time in five years, beat his peers. But the absolute losses were compounded by yet more redemptions and, thus, the precipice of an FCA driven gating, draws ever closer.

Here is a question for you and the answer is not Neil Woodford although it could be. Who said recently that: “easy, positive trends for markets have lulled our clients into a false sense of security”. Hmmm might it be a fund manager whose flagship Smaller Companies Fund is down by 16.2% over three years while his peer group shows average gains of 22%? Yes indeed, it is the clownish Gervais Williams and data just out on his fund is, again, shockingly bad.

Yesterday another dog cursed by the hex that is a Gervais Williams investment, that is to say Nostra Terra Oil & Gas (NTOG), published details of a sack the board EGM and the management’s case for staying on. What, in a cowardly fashion, it refused to do, as I believe it should have done is publish the letter that the requisitioner, Eridge Capital run by flip flop Ben Turney, wanted to send to shareholders. Fear not… the letter, outside of all paywalls, is below. Nostra Terra shareholders should read it and vote to sack chairman Ewan Ainsworth – in light of the scandalous pay revelations below – and hapless Lofgran after this bombshell. Sack the board!

The Boris Bounce has given Gervais a breather but he has used it for at least one more monumental bluncder. How long can the fund survive? Clue, the company’s shares are worth 0p. I then look at why Falanx (FLX) needs to a) fire its broker and b) discourage its chairman from making pitiful share purchases. Then it is onto the mounting problems for Gervais Williams. I really do wonder if the Miton Smaller Companies Fund will see out the year as the spiral is becoming truly vicious. And what of the contagion risks?

The fact that the Miton Smaller Companies Fund has collapsed in value by around two thirds since the start of 2018 is pretty remarkable. It must be a real embarrassment to City grandee Gervais Williams who runs the fund. But his real shame should be in how the money was lost.

Old Gervais is a credible fund manager so what on earth is he doing appearing on a new video show "The spiv Olympics" produced by the LSE Asylum? Its host is Sith Lord Zak "I will do anything, tip any crap for money" Mir, guest one is some barrow boy from low life bucket shop Optiva and the third guest is an uber-spiv from the Asylum itself. So far in three days only 480 folks have watched this shite and Darren and myself are two of them. But Zak needs the money so needs the Asylum to think he has a mass audience so do your bit to assist a poor chartist.
